WORKSHOPS

YOUNG CHILDREN

All attendees will be introduced to the greyhounds, the stars of OFF THE TRACK, and learn how to properly approach strange dogs. Photos depicting scenes from the book OFF THE TRACK will be shown to add visual appeal to the story. Passages will be read from the book. You will see the therapy dog jacket and the silver shoes that one of the dogs wore. At the end of the program, attendees will be given the opportunity to pet and feed the greyhounds.

INDEPENDENT READERS

For the older groups, a chapter will be read from OFF THE TRACK, and interactive discussions will follow: the reality of being an author, covering subjects from finding ideas, researching facts (such as greyhounds coming to America with the Columbus voyages), creating the storyline, development of characters, writing the manuscript, and finding a publisher.

MIXED AGE GROUPS

Each of the above topics can be combined and customized to fit any mixed age group.

Betsy’s greyhounds are therapy dogs and are comfortable with large groups of children and adults.
